One can’t deny that every roof exists to house a lifestyle (workplace, home, theatrical venue, hospital) and the most striking thing to me about the construction process is how often designers, contractors and even OWNERS ignore these practical considerations (that which prompted them to build or remodel in the first place).

A space is created to be used – it may have an innovative exterior or a unique design feature (or use exotic materials), but at the end of the day the real test of a building is whether it satisfies the needs of the occupants.

You can achieve lifestyle amenities and take a practical approach to construction without sacrificing “style” or “architectural appeal”, but if you lead with “form” there will be very little budget left for “function”.
